The story
Kingaroy Kitchen Fine Foods offers a range of gourmet quality foods made with genuine homestyle recipes from the country town of Kingaroy in Queensland’s South Burnett region.
The fine foods selection of old-fashioned chutneys, marmalades, jams and biscuits are created by Hazel ‘Granny Haz’ Patterson to capture the rich character of Kingaroy, an agricultural hub known for its intense red earth and luscious green crops.
Hazel invests all her energy and passion into creating and cooking the gourmet range, using fresh fruit & vegetables which grow plentifully in the Burnett region, and ensuring all the fine foods are preservative free.
The cause
Kingaroy Kitchen is owned and operated by the Endeavour Foundation as a fundraising venture.
Endeavour Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing support and employment opportunities for people with a disability.
It has grown to be the largest non-government provider of disability services in Australia, from humble beginnings as a group of mothers in 1951.
Continuing the spirit of the founding families, with the support of the community, Endeavour Foundation provides:
- 1,940 people with supported employment
- 596 people with full time accommodation
- 350 people with support necessary to live in their own homes
- 851 people with respite care
- 757 people with learning and lifestyle opportunities
- 295 people with post school education

Humble beginnings
Kingaroy Kitchen began 25 years ago when a group of Endeavour Foundation parents decided to sell some homestyle biscuits to raise funds for new equipment for their sons and daughters working in the Endeavour Kingaroy facility.
The biscuits were such a hit that soon Endeavour opened a commercial kitchen to keep up with demand, continuing to make them in the homestyle way people love and keeping them preservative free.
With the talented & inventive Hazel ‘Granny Haz’ Patterson joining the kitchen in 2007, a new future for Kingaroy Kitchen was carved out by her creation of the Fine Foods range to offer a delectable variety of jams, chutneys, marmalades and cakes....(and the list grows).
